Courageous Follower Workshops and Presentations
Objective: To promote healthy partnerships between leaders and followers


Everyone in the audience will be able to identify with the challenges of providing upward feedback that is well received and of creating organizational cultures in which this feedback actually occurs. When the people in an organization know how to create a self-correcting culture, their integrity, satisfaction, and performance can soar. In a time of high-profile corporate scandals damaging both reputations and bottom lines, this workshop can help your organization catch and correct ethical, judgmental, and other errors internally, building trust and effectiveness.

As a result of these presentations and workshops you will be able to
  • identify functions and traits of effective followers.
  • strengthen relationships between leaders and followers in your organization.
  • increase awareness of how to create an organizational culture in which leaders and followers act with courage and integrity in pursuit of the organization’s goals. Longer workshops include exercises to learn key skills and strategies.
  • improve communication within working groups that supports continuous self-correction and improvement.
Materials
Depending on the length of the workshop, we draw on the following materials to support the learning experience:
  • the book The Courageous Follower: Standing Up to and for Our Leaders by Ira Chaleff.
  • the video Courageous Followers, Courageous Leaders, New Relationships for Changing Times, based on the book.
  • a self assessment instrument to identify an individual’s preferred style when in the follower role.
  • interactive exercises specially designed for these workshops.
Target Groups
We design workshops for intact work groups and for individuals who self-select into them.

Formats
We are available for keynote addresses, luncheon talks, and breakout group discussions. We tailor Courageous Follower workshops to your organization’s needs. Choose half-day, full-day or two-day workshops. We can customize a work­shop to a client’s specific situation with preparatory surveys, interviews, or focus groups. Follow-up work can include one-on-one or group meetings with participants to support integration of learnings into the workplace.

Costs
Our fees are based on the length of the workshops, the de­gree of customization requested, and travel times. We will be glad to discuss these once we understand the scope of work involved.
